EMPIRE THEATRE |
ADELPHI
HOTEL
Lime Street (now known as the Britannia Adelphi Hotel) |
Laurel and Hardy came to Liverpool on all three post-war stage tours. The first was 1947, when they packed out the Liverpool Empire at every show, with hundreds more being turned away. They returned in 1952, but all the exhuberance of the first visit was absent, and they scarcely made the newspapers. On the third visit, 1953, Laurel & Hardy were described as being 'dated.' They stayed at the Aldelphi Hotel, in Lime Street, on each occasion. |
